Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Biomanufacturing Technology Lead in Sedro-Woolley WA or Bellingham WA!   

 

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron Technologies designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron Technologies works with municipal, agricultural, and industrial customers to process their "waste" into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods. 

 

The Biomanufacturing Technology Lead will aid in the design, optimization, and scale-up of fertilizer production processes, focusing on efficiency, product quality, and sustainability. This role will apply expertise in bioprocessing and separation technologies while collaborating with engineering, operations, and R&D teams to ensure seamless implementation. In addition, they will analyze and troubleshoot process challenges, integrate advanced technologies, and engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovation and continuous improvement. 

  

Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:  

  • Participate in engineering activities, including design of chemical processes, unit operations and related components, and engineering reviews 
  • Lead the design, scale-up, and continuous improvement of fertilizer production processes to enhance efficiency, product quality, and sustainability 
  • Apply expertise in bioprocessing, biomanufacturing, distillation, evaporation, filtration, membrane filtration, and other separation technologies to optimize production 
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and R&D teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and process implementation 
  • Analyze and troubleshoot process challenges, making continuous system improvements 
  • Ensure all processes meet industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements 
  • Utilize process data, modeling, and experimental results to drive innovation and optimize performance 
  • Stay informed on emerging research and cutting-edge technologies in related fields, implementing innovative solutions 
  • Work with external suppliers, consultants, and research partners to evaluate and integrate advanced technologies 
  • Engage directly with customers and internal technical teams to drive progress throughout all stages of the project lifecycle 
  • Operate within live production environments, requiring a degree of mechanical aptitude 
  • Prioritize duties and responsibilities in order to fulfill objectives 
  • Demonstrate the ability to work individually and within a multidisciplinary team, communicating and collaborating with technicians and engineers alike 
  • Demonstrate passion and excitement for solving difficult yet exciting tasks 
  • Arrive to work on time and maintain good attendance 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

This position has multiple levels of competency to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE  

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field with 10 or more years of experience in chemical, biological, or industrial processing, focusing on large-scale bioprocessing (e.g., ethanol production) and separations 
  • Strong knowledge of process engineering principles 
  • Experience in pilot-to-commercial scale manufacturing and process scale-up 
  • Hands-on experience with: 
    • Bioreactors and biological systems 
    • Production processes with tightly controlled quality specifications 
    • Separation systems 
  • Familiarity with process modeling, simulation tools, and data analytics for process optimization 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical projects 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills 
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED 
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience in fertilizer production, waste-to-value processes, or related industrial applications 
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for chemical manufacturing (e.g., EPA, OSHA, FDA, or equivalent) 
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience for process improvement 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including heights, confined spaces, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

  • Wage range for this role is between $100,000 – $145,000 annually  
  • Travel up to 15% to support facilities in the Midwest region 
  • Discretionary bonus 
  • The range provided is Sedron’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
