, ,Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Director of Process Engineering in Bellingham, WA or Sedro Woolley, WA!
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron Technologies designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron Technologies works with municipal, agricultural, and industrial customers to process their "waste" into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods.
The Director of Process Engineering leads the design, optimization, and integration of complex process systems, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and performance. This role involves developing P&IDs, conducting simulations and feasibility studies, and collaborating across disciplines to drive successful project execution. Additionally, the ideal candidate will mentor junior engineers, implement best practices, and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:
- Lead the design and optimization of complex process systems, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and performance
- Develop and refine Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to define system layouts, instrumentation, and control strategies
- Conduct process simulations, perform risk assessments, and lead feasibility studies to assess technical and economic viability
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to integrate process designs into functional systems
- Interface with internal teams, external partners, and contractors to align project goals, coordinate design efforts, and ensure seamless execution from concept through implementation
- Oversee process design efforts on multiple projects, ensuring technical rigor, schedule adherence, and successful execution
- Oversee process engineering deliverables on assigned projects to ensure technical quality and customer satisfaction.
- Actively mentor junior engineers, fostering skill development and technical excellence
- Identify and implement new technologies, methods, and strategies to improve process efficiency and system performance
- Establish best practices, standardized workflows, and technical documentation
- Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, safety requirements, and environmental regulations
- Prioritize duties and responsibilities in order to fulfill objectives
- Demonstrate the ability to work individually and within a multidisciplinary team, communicating and collaborating with technicians and engineers alike
- Demonstrate passion and excitement for solving difficult yet exciting tasks
- Maintain punctuality, good attendance and professionalism
- Perform other related duties as assigned
This position has multiple levels of competency to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in process design, system integration, or related fields
- 5+ years of demonstrated leadership in mentoring and developing junior engineers
- Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in complex process systems, including P&ID development, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and system layouts
- Proficiency in process modeling, mass/energy balances, system optimization, and equipment selection
- Experience with piping design, instrumentation, and control strategies
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in manufacturing environments (e.g., chemical processing, petrochemical, pulp and paper, or water treatment)
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance for chemical manufacturing (e.g., EPA, OSHA, FDA, or equivalent)
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience for process improvement
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to pass a respirator fit test
- Comfortable working in various environments, including heights, confined spaces, and varying temperatures
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Wage range for this role is between $140,000 - $175,000 annually
- Travel up to 15% to support multiple facilities
- Discretionary bonus
- The range provided is Sedron’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
