Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Process Engineer in Sedro Woolley, WA or Bellingham, WA! 

 

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron Technologies designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron Technologies works with municipal, agricultural, and industrial customers to process their "waste" into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods. 

 

This role will take the lead in designing and optimizing process systems, and turning ideas into efficient, high-performing solutions. From crafting PFDs and P&IDs to collaborating with engineers, vendors, and contractors, this role ensures seamless project execution while troubleshooting, innovating, and keeping things running smoothly. Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:  

  • Execute process design activities, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications
  • Serve as the process engineering owner for assigned projects, ensuring timely and accurate execution of process engineering deliverables
  • Develop, review, and refine process models to optimize system performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers, and external partners and contractors to ensure seamless integration of process designs
  • Support the selection, specification, and procurement of process equipment
  • Engage with vendors and external partners to obtain technical data and evaluate equipment performance
  • Conduct technical risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies
  • Provide technical support during project commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization phases
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and best practices in process design
  • Contribute to process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives  
  • Prioritize duties and responsibilities in order to fulfill objectives
  • Demonstrate the ability to work individually and within a multidisciplinary team, communicating and collaborating with technicians and engineers alike
  • Demonstrate passion and excitement for solving difficult yet exciting tasks
  • Arrive to work on time and maintain good attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

This position has multiple levels of competency to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in process design, preferably in chemical processing, petrochemicals, pulp and paper, wastewater treatment, or waste to energy processes
  • Strong proficiency in process modeling tools and software (Aspen Plus or equivalent)
  • Experience developing PFDs, P&IDs, and mass and energy balances
  • Familiarity with equipment specification, sizing, and selection
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Experience with process safety and HAZOP analysis
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience in fertilizer production, waste-to-value processes, or related industrial applications
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance for chemical manufacturing (e.g., EPA, OSHA, FDA, or equivalent)
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing experience for process improvement 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including heights, confined spaces, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

  • Wage range for this role is between $110,000 – $135,000 annually 
  • Travel up to 15% to support facilities  
  • Discretionary bonus
  • The range provided is Sedron’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
