With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron works with agricultural, municipal, and industrial customers to process their “waste” into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods.

The Shift Lead oversees safe and efficient plant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring all processes run according to SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role leads and mentors a team of Chemical Operators, manages daily production activities, coordinates closely with Maintenance, and responds to operational issues, equipment failures, and emergencies. Strong technical knowledge of chemical processes, DCS operation, and mechanical troubleshooting is essential.

The schedule will be rotating—four days on, four days off—and will repeat every 10 weeks. We have day shift (6am to 6pm) and night shift (6pm to 6am) available.

Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for an individual who can meet the following essential functions of the position:

  • Monitor and adjust plant control systems to maintain optimal operating parameters for yield, quality, and energy consumption.
  • Lead operational troubleshooting for process upsets, deviations, and bottlenecks, implementing corrective actions swiftly and documenting all incidents.
  • Review and approve daily operating instructions and critical process data to identify and address performance gaps.
  • Manage inventories on the shift, ensuring proper material flow and handling.

  • Prioritize, coordinate, and initiate emergency and urgent maintenance work orders, ensuring timely response to equipment failures.
  • Issue and control all necessary work permits for maintenance activities (e.g., Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hot Work) and ensure strict compliance.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with equipment troubleshooting and provide operational knowledge to facilitate efficient repairs.
  • Ensure operators perform routine general maintenance, inspections, and preventative tasks (e.g., equipment cleaning, lubrication checks, leak detection) as required by the maintenance schedule.
  • Act as the on-shift Incident Commander or primary responder for all emergencies, including chemical releases, fires, or medical incidents.
  • Enforce strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, plant inspections, and housekeeping checks to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Lead incident investigations (accidents, near misses, process deviations) on the shift and implement immediate containment and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all shift documentation, including logs, reports, and environmental readings, is accurate and completed per regulatory requirements.
  • Direct, train, and mentor a team of Chemical Operators, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage shift scheduling, breaks, and assignments to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow.
  • Conduct effective shift-to-shift handovers to communicate critical operational, safety, and maintenance information.
  • Administer company policies and procedures, including performance management and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams of technicians, engineers, and operators
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving drive, bringing energy and excitement to technically challenging work
  • Maintain reliable attendance, arriving on time and ready to contribute
  • Take ownership of additional duties as needed to support Company goals
