Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2026 in our Bellingham location!   
 
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron Technologies designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron Technologies works with municipal, agricultural, and industrial customers to process their "waste" into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods. 
 
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support the design, development, and improvement of Sedron’s Varcor dryer. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to apply mechanical engineering fundamentals while learning how innovative equipment is designed, built, and supported in production. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers across multiple disciplines, gaining exposure to R&D, manufacturing, and real-world design challenges. 
 
Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:  

  • Directly contribute to the design of original equipment, including the Varcor dryer and related mechanical systems
  • Create & maintain 3D models (CAD) and detailed engineering drawings
  • Perform first-principles hand calculations (stress, deflection, heat transfer, flow, etc.) and Finite Element Method simulations
  • Support research and development (R&D) projects including prototyping & testing  
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to diagnose mechanical problems and develop design improvements
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and hands-on problem solving.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams of technicians, engineers, and operators
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving drive, bringing energy and excitement to technically challenging work
  • Maintain reliable attendance, arriving on time and ready to contribute
  • Take ownership of additional duties as needed to support Company goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE  

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Interest in machine design and mechanical system development
  • Strong communication skills, curiosity, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have effective verbal, reading, and written communication skills in the English language 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g. NX, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, etc.)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal, etc.)
  • Exposure to thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles
  • Hands-on experience (class projects, personal builds, labs, or internships) with mechanical systems
  • Interest or experience with electro-mechanical systems or large welded structures 

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

  • Compensation for this role is between $23 - $28 hourly 
  • Additional pay may apply for off-shift hours, off-site work, or special assignments
  • This role may qualify for a discretionary bonus, recognizing outstanding contributions to team and company success
  • This role requires less than 10% travel  
  • In compliance with state and local pay transparency laws, the expected compensation for this role is shared above. The range provided is Sedron’s estimate of the base compensation for this role and the final offer will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location. Compensation may be adjusted within this range to reflect regional cost-of-living differences in states where Sedron is hiring.
