Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to work at our Bellingham or Sedro-Woolley, WA office!

Sedron is a leading provider of circular waste management technologies for agricultural manure and municipal biosolids processing, deploying facilities across several North American regions. Since its founding in 2014, Sedron has pioneered innovative solutions, including the patented Varcor® system, to transform waste into clean water, organic fertilizer, and carbon-negative commodities. With strong engineering expertise, Sedron’s processes reduce nutrient pollution, lower operational expenses, and promote sustainability at a fraction of traditional costs.

Sedron Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help solve complex challenges at the intersection of industrial systems and sustainable resource recovery. This role is central to the design, development, and commissioning of industrial-scale equipment used in wastewater treatment, biosolids processing, and waste-to-resource facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will apply core engineering principles to deliver robust solutions—including thermal processing systems, pressure vessels, solids handling equipment, and fluid systems—designed to perform reliably in demanding environments.

Working cross-functionally with process, operations, and project teams, this role requires both strong technical expertise and a systems-level understanding of industrial facility design. Leveling will be based on experience, performance, and qualifications.

This position includes ownership of large, fabricated structures across the full lifecycle—from concept through fabrication, deployment, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate has experience designing welded and fabricated systems, with strong judgment in manufacturability, material selection, and performance in corrosive environments. Experience with ASME Section VIII Division 2, fatigue analysis, and FEA is preferred.

Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:

  •          Lead the design and development of custom industrial equipment and systems for wastewater, biosolids, and waste-to-resource facilities
  •         Perform and review engineering analyses (e.g., heat transfer, mass/energy balance, stress, and fluid systems) to support robust, field-ready designs
  •          Develop integrated facility designs including piping, equipment layouts, structural considerations, and utility systems
  •          Support the full project lifecycle from concept through fabrication, installation, commissioning, and handoff to operations
  •          Serve as a technical interface with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to advance projects through design, procurement, and execution
  •          Collaborate cross-functionally with process, electrical, controls, and operations teams to deliver complete system solutions
  •          Drive manufacturing readiness, procurement support, and design quality to ensure efficient project execution
  •          Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, and performance
  •          Support field activities including site visits, commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed

This position has multiple levels of competency to be determined by performance, certifications, and supervisor discretion.

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., NX or equivalent) and engineering design/documentation tools
  • Strong expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer) applied to industrial systems
  • Extensive experience with piping and equipment design, including P&IDs, layouts, and relevant codes/standards (e.g., ASME, GD&T)
  • Experience designing and integrating facility-level systems (process piping, utilities, HVAC, and equipment installation)
  • Proven ability to lead projects from concept through commissioning, including field execution and contractor coordination
  • Familiarity with industrial/process environments such as wastewater treatment, thermal processing, or solids handling systems
  • Strong understanding of safety, environmental compliance, and operating constraints in industrial facilities
